George Marley
History
George Marley is a singer, songwriter, and accordionist specializing in forró music. He learned to play from a young age, with the Feira de São Cristóvão (Luiz Gonzaga Center of Northeastern Traditions) in Rio de Janeiro serving as his training ground. Born in Rio de Janeiro to Northeastern parents, he grew up immersed in the city's Northeastern immigrant community.
In recent years, he has been involved in projects such as the Petrópolis Accordion Orchestra, the Bloco Fole & Folia carnival band, and the Sanfonada Brasileira ensemble, touring throughout Brazil with them. He has also performed with renowned forró artists such as Anastácia, Marcelo Mimoso, and Almério, and has served as a substitute accordionist for the Trio Rapacuia.
Currently, he focuses on performing as part of a trio throughout Brazil, particularly in the states of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, where he lives.
